|Crocus Gallery Open 3|
17th November - 15th December
Review by Rachel Tait
newest exhibition, the Crocus Gallery Open Exhibition 3, launched
with a bang on the 16th November with some great live
music and a lot of fantastic work on display. We have over 70 artists
included in the exhibition this year, a huge show of support for the
gallery, and as a result we’ve put together one of our most diverse
shows yet! Like last year, as a thank you to all who are taking part
we held a competition to award two solo shows in the coming year. Our
winners chosen by artist Madeleine Burt were Tracie Shaylor with her
Morphogenesis Cells and Lucy Sparrow’s textile pieces
Marlborough Lights and If Damien Hirst Had Paint Thinner,
who have been awarded exhibitions in the main gallery and back space
in the coming year. They were selected out of a shortlist which also
included Adam Black, Rachel Wing, Mark O’Hara, Sonja Benskin
Mesher, Steve Talbot, and Jill Hedges, all worthy candidates for the
Open Exhibtion is great opportunity to see a huge range of work and
mediums that are rarely put together in a standard exhibition,
creating a unique and exciting experience for all. This year has been
a huge challenge for our team and I believe we pulled it off! But
come and have a look yourself.
exhibition will be open until 14th Decmeber, so if you
haven’t already been, come and give us your thoughts. A lot of the
work is for sale, ranging from just £15 so it’s a great
opportunity to find some artistic gems! It’s also a great chance to
see the work of some new artists from all over the world, brought
together by our fantastic team.
I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has taken part
or visited the exhibition this year. It is so important in raising
funds for the gallery and we hope you all enjoy it as much as we have
enjoyed putting it together.
During the launch night on Friday 16th November, Madeleine Burt announces the winners of the Crocus Gallery Open 3. From left to right, Kay Richards, Rachel Tait and Madeleine Burt.

Re-Present is an independent, contemporary art organization based in Nottingham whose aim is to bring together fresh new talent from Nottingham’s art scene through the creation of a support network for artists.
This exhibition explores the notion of the fictitious, specifically the line between the fact and fictitious and what can happen when the two blur. The brief for the show requires work which is connected to or contrived from the fictitious in some way.The exhibition includes artwork from any medium.
